Three miles should be easy, but these were not!  Paula and I ran together but I am tired and overly stressed this week - two things I am trying to avoid, but failing at.  I have a very long day, hopefully, it is productive and I can let go of a few things.

I slept in a whole 1/2 hr this morning, but then laid there for another hour.  It is amazing what a difference that makes.  I went and ran 3 miles today.  I had no intention of pushing other than I was going to do two 1/4 mile pick ups while I was on the flat part.  The mile and 1/2 home were just fast because it had some down hill.  Overall I felt great today and a little more optimistic about Saturday.

I finally went and got my marathon shorts last night, I procrastinated wwwaaaayyy to long!  They are SHORT! YIKES!  I think that they will work good though.

WOW!  I can now say I have run a marathon.  What an awesome experience. All of last winters running outside in crappy weather had paid off because I had no worries or fears regarding the weather.   However, there was a little mishap right before the start.  I checked to see if my  GU's were okay and they were, however as soon as I passed the chip mat I felt my pockets and they were all gone but one.  I decided not to panic and worst case scenario I would only GU at mile thirteen.  I was so happy at mile 3 when the were giving them out and I stock up and held on to them and ended up dropping one along the way but grabbed another at the next stop.  Here are the details:

Mile 1: 8:36 - right on track and feeling good, trying not to panic about the GU

Mile 2: 8:24 - Feeling good - See Dean from the BBK.

Mile 3: 8:04 - Still right on track and loving it!

Mile 4: 7:58 - More of the same

Mile 5: 8:03 - Ditto

Mile 6: 7:52 - Ditto x 2

Mile 7: 7:50 - Getting ready for Veyo hill  - See Jamie and Linday Kryling

Mile 8: 9:37 - Veyo Hill - OUCH!  I wasn't as worried about this as I was the miles just after but it kicked my butt!  THANK YOU  to Koby from the blog for not letting me walk and keeping me going - YOU ROCK!  We ended up running together until mile 13.

Mile 9: 8:57 - Starting to fall behind the pace but I am okay with that because I do not want to push at this point.

Mile 10: 8:44 - Just working up the hill

Mile 11:  8:45 - Keep trucking up the hill

Mile 12:  8:25 - Oops! more hill than I thought

Mile 13: 8:05 - Half way point!  YEAH!!!!!  This came fast!

Mile 14: 8:45 -  Trying to still keep it slow and no pushing yet.

Mile 15: 8:00  -  Calfs start cramping and they never went away but I survived.

Mile 16: 8:14 - Feeling good.

Mile 17: 7:57 - Winchester Hill - I began being my own motivational speaker and cheerleader at this point and for the remainder of the marathon it went like this " You can do it! You are strong!"  Repeated over and over and over again!

Mile 18: 8:25 - Going up the hill

Mile 19: 8:20 - Enjoying the run and really starting to feel good

Mile 20: 7:50 - Decide to let myself go and have fun - Maybe a little to early.

Mile 21: 7:41 - Lovin' it!

Mile 22: 8:21 - Getting ready to see my family - Gotta look good!

Mile 23: 8:03 - 5K to go and happy to see my family cheering!

Mile 24: 7:58 - Feeling okay but really having to push to keep my pace down

Mile 25: 8:19 - Hanging on, legs are tired and hurting.  My blurry vision is coming and I am trying to keep seeing.

Mile 26: 8:44 - Hitting the wall!  So happy I made it this far before this happened.  For those of you that have seen "Run, Fat Boy, Run"  I just tried not to have a Dennis moment.  Focusing on the finish and getting there.

.2: 2:29 - Do not  want to fall, trying to stay upright and get across the finish line.

This was a great experience.  I learned I need to spend more time running hills but I am so happy with my time and that I Boston Qualified!

Congrats to everyone who ran today!  Way to be tough in the rain and wind and persevere!

Met Paula and Renee for a post marathon hobble.  I am feeling much better than I did yesterday - sitting in a car for 4.5 hrs was not a good idea, even if we had 5 potty breaks (my girls have the worlds tiniest bladders).  I actually felt much better, but still to sore to run.  I tried but it was bad, bad, bad.  More hobbling to come this week.

Ran (hobbled) and walked with Paula this morning.  I decided I should dress like a runner and that might help, instead of a walker like yesterday.  I was still pretty sore but we alternated running and walking.  My quads ended up feeling really good, I just have the cramp in my right calf that I cannot get to go away.   Overall, I feel much better.

I scraped my calf again last night, it is much better,  but still not close to 100%.  I am going to take today off and maybe tomorrow as well.   I have been so surprised at the serious case of "Post Race Blues" that I have.  I am so happy with my race performance, but so lost without any thing to focus on right now.  Running is usually what helps when I feel sad, but no running.......

Another day off.  My calf is feeling much better and I am hoping another day will get it back to 100%.  My attitude is improving as well, so despite the horrible weather today should be a better day!

I was so excited to run with Marcie today, I over did it.  We do not get to run together very often so I have to take advantage of any opportunity that I get.  We did an out and back and I thought that it was pretty flat but it ended up being uphill on the way out and down on the way back.  I was so worried about my calf but it ended up being okay.  My left leg gave me grief from mile 7 on and I ended up walking the mile 11 home...no need to push too hard today.   My other sister in law worked on me after the marathon and she commented on how tight my left leg was compared to my right, but it has been my right that has given me so much trouble.  Today I feel it though.  The left leg is nice and tight, top to bottom.  It was so nice to get back out and run, but seriously - why is winter already here!

Ran with Paula and Renee this morning.  Took extra long getting ready because it was time to break out the tights, under armour, fleece, gloves, ear warmer and reflecters - I am not ready for this!  We had a slow 3 with Renee and then 3 more at a little bit quicker pace - still in the 9's though.  I can tell I still have a long way to go before I am 100%.  My left hamstring is sooo tight and my right calf is still tender.

Ran with the BBK today, we had a big group show up.  It was so great to see everybody and catch up - a lot happens in a couple of weeks.  No big work out planned, just some good mileage.  I felt great, it has been a rough couple of weeks and I started to wonder if I would ever feel good running again.  So nice to know that it comes back eventually.

Slow easy run with Paula and Renee.  I felt pretty good except for I did not dress warm enough.

Now I am home from a completely frustrating day at work and really need to run to feel better, but I am waiting for a call from my boss, maybe later.

Ran the first 4.25 with Renee this morning.  We had a nice time visiting, which caused us to be way to slow.  I dropped her off and then went to add on 3 more.  I felt like I was below MP and close to 10K but when I was done the garmin only showed 1 at 10K and the rest were slower than MP  - Booo!  Not to worry too much, I really was not supposed to do any "speed" work this week.

So just a funny thing - I was reading Benn's report and I am SOOO excited for him!!  WAHOO!!  but as I was reading it, my husband called to tell me that his 81 yr old mother just got engaged to her 90 yr old boyfriend - Love is in the air :)

I met Julie, Angela, Michelle N and Cheris at 5:45  this morning, this means getting up at 4:50 - the days of sleeping in are looooong gone.  We ran on the JRP south into the wind - add a some rain and you would have the SGM all over again.  It is alway so much fun to run with these guys.  Julie finished at just over 7 miles and then Angela, Michelle and Cheris turned around just before 8.  I added on until I reached 11 miles.  Once I was on my own, I just enjoyed the run.... Sometimes I get so caught up in miles and pace that I forget how much I just love to run.  Saw three deer and a beautiful sunrise.

I ran with Renee again today.  She is training for a 5k and so I paced her through a fartlek type work out.  She finished with 4 miles and then I added on the rest.  My last 1.25 were sub 8  - YEAH!  Even though they were aided, I was quite happy.

Ran with the BBK today.  My legs were very tired from yesterday so I struggled keeping up.  I am so tired today.  I made the mistake of having an short nap yesterday which I think affected my sleep last night, so today  NO nap :(

PM:  After a day spent preparing next years budgets, calendars and phone calls, my 11 year old decided my day had not been bad enough and she needed to add to it.  Apparently I am a mean, horrible mom because I limit snacking and no playing until after homework and jobs are done.  Oh the drama, Oh the tears!  I had enough and went AWOL for 3 fast miles.  It was so nice being outside  in the crisp fall air.  I decided I should do this more often, especially because I went super fast (for me) 8:00, 7:41, 7:40!

Easy run with Paula and Renee. It was cold today and I did not dress warm enough.  Unfortunately there will be many more mornings like this.  My legs felt pretty good after yesterday's two runs which is a good sign.

I ran with the BBK group today.  As always a great group of people to run with and a lot of fun!  We had a nice quick pace today which makes it even better.

I have Stake Leadership tonight and will be so glad when it is over........Luckily I just get to talk about the new nursery manuel, nothing to hard but I would much rather talk to kids than adults.  I will be so happy when it is over!

Four cold miles this morning with Paula and Renee.  I was really tired when I got up and almost didn't go but decided the guilt was not worth 1 more hour of sleep.  I am going to go make up that lost hour now.

Ran with Julie, Angela and Michelle N. this morning and it was so WINDY! Whenever we headed south on the trail we had a very strong headwind. My ankle started hurting with about 2 miles to go, but now it is fine ... not to worry about I guess.  It was, as usual, a very good run. They make the time fly by and are a great group to run with.

I have had some garmin issues this week. I forgot it Tuesday morning morning and then this morning it was dead......I need to be better prepared.

I came home and my husband suggested sitting in the pool instead of having an ice bath because the water would be about the same temperature. Only problem is that it is cold outside! It wasn't as terrible as I thought it was going to be when I started out but if it gets much colder I will be back in my tub.

Ran with Paula, Renee and my son Jake this morning.  He asked if he could start running with me and of course I said YES!   We ran the 1.5 miles to the fitness ctr and then went to start on the trail and he wanted to go ahead.  I said yes and then to wait for me once he made it around once, but he missed the gate and kept going.  I got some speed work in trying to find him and then get him back in time to get ready for school - He did an awesome job!  Paula dropped Renee off and then she and I added on another couple of miles.  Nice to get some running in today, now I am looking forward to sleep because I did not get any last night.

Can I just say I love the shoe tracker!!

BBK or BGMK run today.  We ran in the neighborhoods around Bingham High today.  I am always worried I am going to get hit by a teenage driver, but we were all safe today.  It was great to run with Britta today and get to know her a little better.  I overdressed today and ended up having to take off my outer layer.

No run today :(  I got home late last night from LA and learned that my daughter needed help finishing a big school project this morning.  I did not have time to go out with the BBK today and when I got up to go on my own my head was pounding.  I have had a lingering headache from a migraine a couple of weeks ago that comes and goes, so I chose a little more sleep.  Not sure if that was the best idea but  the decision has been made.

We leave for SG tonight so I will get some good running tomorrow and Saturday.

Mixed feelings about today's run.

 The Good:

1.  I ran with Marcie which is always great!  She is so sweet to run with me, the slow whiny girl.

2.  I ran in shorts and a T-Shirt for the first time since the marathon.

3.  I had 5 fast miles which were all 8:00 or under - YEAH!

The Bad:

1.  We had planned on two 5k's but I was beat after one and new that doing another was not a good idea with a long run tomorrow, so I told Marcie I needed easy miles for the rest.

2.  I tired out sooner that I expected, especially because I did not run yesterday. So instead of 12 miles I ended with 10.

3.  I thought that I could get the other 2 in with Jake but when I got back to my mom's he did not want to run and my husband was going golfing so that was the end my running this morning.:(

I am very happy with my overall pace of 8:15, but so disapointed with my shape and the fact that I quit. UGH!

Happy Running!
