I need a major attitude adjustment. Another horrible run, but my legs felt better. I do not know if it the weather or what but I am struggling right now to be motivated. I have nothing else to say. Sorry so depressing.

Happy Running!

After some "deep" reflection, I have come up with 10 reasons as to why I am having a crappy running week:

10.  It is too cold

9. Jet Lag

8.  No new episodes of the Office since November

7.  Bad eating habits

6.  My husband is out of town and will be for about 30 days over the next three months

5.  It is too cold

4.  No new episodes of the Office since November

3.  It is too cold

2.  It is too cold

1.  I will not reach my mileage goal for the week because I missed on Monday and have a 5k on Saturday.  ( I think this is about 99% of my bad attitude)

Now I know why, I just have to figure out how to fix it.

It is amazing what a hot shower and a little cream of wheat can do for a person!

Don't be sad! You got 6 MILES in today! More than me! Just be thankful that you were able to have another day to lace up and head out the door! I think there's a lot of things trying to get us down, but it's the ability to overcome these 'downers' that makes us who we are. Just hang in there, and the runs will come. You are doing great this year, Jody! Good luck on the 5k this Saturday!!

Thanks for getting me out and running. You have been doing so good. Enjoy a day off and Saturday you will be recharged and ready to go.

Jody! You are doing a 5K this Sat.? You are going to do sooo great, where is it?

As far as the attitude adjustment goes, I think that I need one too, but it should come in the way of warm air and I think we would all fee better! I'm soooo lookin g forward to a little pre-spring warming. The mid 30 degree area sounds so good! Hang in there, you'll be coming off a great 5K fast time high here in a day or two and be ready to get moving again!!

BTW why do you get to go to India? (was that it) for work? That sounds so excitting!

Thanks again for all of your kind words and support!!

Some days (or weeks) or just plain harder than others so dont get down, you are an amazing runner! not to mention SUPER MOM and Career woman and everything else! and good luck at your 5k on SAT GO JODY!

Thanks for all the support!!!! We are doing the SLTC 5K on Saturday. I have no idea what to expect. I have not run it before and it is supposed to be stormy.

Michelle,

I go to India in May, probably the 9 - 25. We are working on flights right now. Our biggest decision is if we want to go through Europe or Asia. Asian airline carriers are much better, but I love Europe. So we will see. It is for work and I go with a really good friend and we have a great time. A little play on the way there and then work 18hrs a day for 2 weeks. They also have great shopping, so I am starting my list.

Sorry I missed your phone call last night. The competition went really well. Northridge ended up winning and Davis took second. I'm excited to see Bountiful tonight (oh the memories). You are doing great with your running!

From Christi on Thu, Jan 24, 2008 at 14:21:54

I think you will pleasantly suprise yourself with your 5k time- GO get 'em! Don't be so hard on yourself. You're doing great! If you are down its definately because there's no new Office's coming out. LOVE that show. I own season 1, need to buy more. Have you rented all the past seasons?

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, Jan 24, 2008 at 14:28:14

Why would racing a 5 K make you miss your mileage goal? If your focus is the marathon, you should never taper for a 5 K. On the day of the race, you run the balance of your mileage goal for the day after you finish.

From Jon on Thu, Jan 24, 2008 at 14:31:12

I agree that the cold and no new Office episodes are bad.

I understand the whole mindset of "I missed monday, now I can't get my mileage goal for the week." Happens to all of us. Run the rest of the days like you planned (maybe a hair more), and don't worry about it. Missing one day is not near as bad as throwing in the towel on a whole week.

From Jody on Thu, Jan 24, 2008 at 14:33:56

Christi - I have watched from the beginning. I don't know what to do on Thursday nights anymore. We have the previous seasons in our Itunes library so we can watch them on itv. But I need to know about Jim & Pam, and what about Dwight, Andy & Angela? Can't wait.

Sasha, No taper was planned. I missed Monday because I was traveling and had delayed flights and a million things went wrong that day. I will try to get the balance in on Saturday but am challenged because my husband is out of town and have 4 kids, a job, a church calling plus everything else that comes up. Saturday is my get everything done day. However, I will give it my best effort.
