I have been looking forward today for a long time. I have been wanting to get in a good quality long run. It seems like with the holidays and travel it has just been really difficult. We headed out early to avoid traffic and ran a loop around the "big" block. Our plan was to repeat this 3 times and then add on a little at the end. During the second loop there was another close call with a car and I 'd had enough. We finished the second loop as planned and then wove around the neighborhood until we had reached our goal. We had 3.5 separate long uphill miles and then mostly flat with a few down hills. We used to run the loop one time and call it good and haven't run it at all in the last 3 months. I could really tell our training has paid off because the hill on the first loop was almost easy and the on the second loop it was more difficult but nothing like before and then our third hill was slow but not to bad considering it was in the 9th mile. I wish our overall pace had been a little faster but we felt very comfortable the entire time and could have added on and felt great.

Thanks for the comment. Sorry about the close call with the car. I also try and go early to miss the traffic. But, some people just seem out right mean. That being said this morning about half the people I saw driving actually waved back... The problem is that of the few that didn't some were too close for comfort.

One thing that has helped was last week I got arm bands with reflectors. I've noticed that when I wear them more cars move over and they move over earlier... Just a thought. Good luck and keep up the great training!

I ordered them from the St. George Running Center, just call Steve @ 435-628-7766. The turnaround is very quick and the price was reasonable compared to other products I've seen. Also, this way you don't have to worry about batteries and I wasn't one for wearing the full vest, though that is a good alternative. I've also run with a few people that use the head lamps for increased visibility but I've personally not done that.

Great pace for a 1/2 marathon training run! You are going to score some more awesome PRs this spring! Way to go! (btw, I ran with lots of traffic the other day and I can feel your pain- it can be so distracting & frustrating to have to "defensively" run and try not to get hit by an airheaded driver!)
