I couldn't go out and meet with the BBK this morning because my husband is out of town and I needed to get kids out the door and off to school. I decided that I would do the same work out - 3 5K's on with Paula. I warmed up on my way to her house and then we began. I new the first would be the slowest because I was not 100% warmed up. It still felt like we were going at a pretty good speed and the rec ctr trail was so dark that we could not see where it was going. We finished in 25:36. The second was going to be run on the WestFest 5K route. Paula wasn't feeling well so I told her I would run her home instead of making the final turn and then do one last one on my own. We got started and I was feeling really good, the first mile was in 7:50. We kept going and I was going to try to match my WestFest time. With about .4 miles to go I twisted my left ankle and stopped to make sure I was okay. It hurt when it happened but I was able to finish in 24:12 - 10 seconds slower that my race time. I am blaming the ankle but overall I am very happy with this split. At this point I waited for Paula to finish and started to worry about being able to finish the third in time to get home and also about how my ankle was going to feel later on. I decided to forgo the third and cooled down for 1.5 miles. If my ankle feels good all day, I will do the third tonight. Not quite the same, but I hate not finishing. I ended up getting getting done at 6:10 and was mad that I did not do the third but still waiting to see what the ankle does.

Ankle felt okay so I headed back out tonight to get in my third 5k.  Not quite as effective as three in a row but better than nothing.  My goal was to beat my first split this morning.  I finished in 24:45 and then cooled down for a mile.  My calves are incredibly tight and were cramping a little from mile 2 on.

At least i am not the only one constantly twisting my ankle. It is amazing how bad it hurts, huh? I am so sorry that happened and I hope it feels better fast!

We missed you this morning, but it sounds like you had a good workout, notwithstanding the twisted ankle. I hope it's nothing serious. And, if you do get that last 5k in tonight, I'll be very impressed!

You had some great times on your splits. Hope your ankle is okay.

So did I miss the announcement somewhere? Are you in on St. George? I am so excited if that is the case! It will be so fun to be at the same marathon for each of our firsts!
