I had been dreading today for weeks.  I just have not been feeling the need to race, but needed to get this out of the way for the Runner's Series.   I drove over with Marcie and then met up with Cheris, Michelle M, Dean and Kris. We had planned to start slow and do a progressive run.  We ended up starting a little faster than we had planned but it was a good run.  I felt really good until the last two miles and was really worried about keeping up with Michelle and Cheris as they dropped down to MP for 2009.   It was more mental than physical but I was happy to run with Julie for a few minutes.  I ended up right in goal and PR'd for a non-aided course.  I actually really liked the course and would like to run it again.  They had changed the course and it ended up measuring long for everyone - I measured 13:18 but I forgot to start my watch as well.

It was great to see everyone afterwards and catch up with Christi and some friends of ours that we haven't seen in years.   This was a good way to start 2009 and to stick with my goal of enjoying running.

Happy Running!

Great job on the race. It was a blast. Painters is getting bigger all the time. The only thing i did not like about it was the last 1/3 of a mile.

Bill,

I agree with the add on out and back. There were plenty of other ways to fix that. They could have adjusted the start. It was a beautiful running day - It has been a long time since I have had one of those.

glad you had a great race. is that a 1/2 PR for you? it looks like you guys are having tons of fun down there. I'm jealous of your nice weather we are freezing and the inversion makes it even worse. call me when you get home.

I've just been reading everyone's race reports. Great job.

Jody, 200 commando points for the PR. Always tough to race this time of year.

Hey Jody! Congrats on a great race! It was awesome to see you too! I also just wanted to get it over with. It really helped me gauge where my fitness is (unfortunately- LOL). So I'm still looking for the official results- you haven't seen them posted anywhere have you?

From Michelle N. on Sun, Jan 18, 2009 at 23:47:51

Great job Jody! I'm bummed we didn't find you at the first. There were so many people there. I'm going to try and come to the group on Tuesday morning before we leave so I hope to see you then:)
